Gloria Gaines Marshall
Tullahassee native Gloria Marshall was born and raised in the historic community where family, faith, education, and hard work shaped her life from an early age. She is the daughter of Fletcher and Josephine Gaines, who shared an inspiring marriage that lasted 64 years. Growing up on a farm on Arkansas Street in Tullahassee, Gloria was raised alongside her six sisters and three brothers in a close-knit and hardworking family environment that instilled strong values and a deep sense of community.
Gloria attended the historic Carter G. Woodson School in Tullahassee, where she was actively involved in school activities and student life. During her school years, she participated in talent shows, cheerleading, and many other activities that reflected her outgoing personality, leadership, and school spirit.
After graduating, Gloria continued her education in college and later married the love of her life, Clifford Marshall Sr. Together, they built a strong and loving family and were blessed with three beautiful children: Clifford Marshall Jr., Chad Marshall, and Carnella Marshall.
Throughout her life, Gloria Marshall has been known as a dedicated, hardworking, and educated woman who continually broke barriers and served her community with integrity. Her accomplishments reached historic significance when she became the first Black Treasurer of Wagoner County. She faithfully served the citizens of the county in that role until her retirement, earning respect and admiration for her professionalism, leadership, and commitment to public service.
Gloria Marshall’s story is one of perseverance, excellence, family values, and community pride. Her legacy continues to inspire future generations in Tullahassee and beyond.
